Access Statement for Pitcairn House in Keswick
Introduction
Pitcairn House was built in 1872 and is constructed mainly from local
Lakeland slate. We are located within a 5 minutes level walk of the
town centre which is pedestrianised.
Pre-Arrival
We can be contacted at most reasonable times by either telephone on 017687

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Guests are requested to arrive after 4 pm to ensure rooms are fully serviced.
Earlier or later arrivals can be arranged but please contact us to
advise intended timings. For guests in cars there are 3 car parking
spaces at the rear of the property which can be easily accessed down
the side of the building plus there is ample, unrestricted on street
parking. The nearest railway station is either Penrith or Windermere.
Both have bus connections to Keswick bus station which is situated
by Booths supermarket and within a 15 minutes walk of the house or
if you prefer 2 minutes by Taxi.If you need assistance with any baggage
we are more than willing to assist.
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
The main entrance leads directly from the pavement with 2 steps into
the vestibule. There is an exterior door and internal door with yale
lock. Please ring bell located to the right of the door and wait for
assistance.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
From the front door the main hallway has the dinning room to the right
and directly ahead is the stairs to all guest accommodation which is
situated on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. Unfortunately we do not have
any ground floor guest rooms and for those with walking difficulties
there are numerous stairs to each floor and we do not have a lift.
Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
All our rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor have en-facilities whilst the
3 rooms on the top floor share a shower and toilet (both separate)
which are located on the same landing. All rooms have TV’s, tea and
coffee making facilities, hair dryers, clock radios.
Dining Room
We have a spacious, airy dining room with separate tables for each room.
Additional Information
We have 2 rooms which are available for guests with dogs. We request
that all animal are kept off the beds, not left unattended at any time
and during breakfast, where available, put in owners car. We also have
a drying room for boots and wet clothing plus a secure yard to store
cycles.
